Adventures in Dyeing Ribbon

So I've never actually done it before.... and I never actually looked at a tutorial before. I was just thinking of a way that would make sense, and I went for it. I tried it one way at first that DIDN'T work: I mixed reinker with water, but all that happened was I got wet ribbon that didn't have nearly ANY color. So, don't do it that way. Then, I decided it made more sense to try mixing the reinkers with rubbing alcohol. That did it! Just soak for about a minute and then dab it dry with a paper towel. Super easy. Just don't expect to keep your fingers clean. lol

My motivation - I have a friend who's in the hospital right now so I decided to make a get-well card for her. And, my all time favorite get-well stamp set is Happy Healing, which I've got but never used before (can you believe it?!). Here's what resulted:

Of course I am not a pro photographer by ANY means... so imagine that botle label with glitter all over it, becasue it DOES. There's also a piece of blush blossom ribbon in that bunch but it got hidden in the pic too. Oh well. Okay, so what did I use? Here goes:

Stamp Set: Happy Healing (SU!, retired)

Colors: Chocolate Chip, Blush Blossom, Groovy Guava (Saffron and Wasabi coloring in image), Natural Creme cardstock

Other: Grosgrain in Chocolate Chip, white (dyed guava and also blush), 2 way glue pen, dazzling diamonds, dimensionals, Cuttlebug texture embossing in Mesh, glue dots, blender pen

Am I forgetting anything? Don't think so. Just that the card says "Happy Healing" inside, and that I hope this helps my friend recover sooner, or at least makes her smile!

Have a great day everyone!

What a great idea with the alcohol. I will have to go try it. I have always wondered if just using water would wash out if it got wet. Hmmmmmmm.... makes ya think. Thanks for the tip.

Excellent job dying the ribbon. You know, you can use watercolors to dye ribbon, too? I love using my twinkling H20s, get that extra little glimmer.

Your card is adorable!!
